A Dutch HR manager is working for an international company headquartered in the Netherlands, specializing in tubular running services. The company operates under the Anglo-Saxon model, with the Dutch branch mainly responsible for conducting business with European countries.

For this case model assignment, we interviewed a purser. A purser makes sure that everything is prepared before the flight takes off, is the host of the passengers and oversees the cabin crew on the flight, and afterwards she writes a reflection about the flight and its cabin crew. All in all, the job of a purser contains a lot of diversity within its tasks and duties. As a purser she has to deal with many different cultures. This entails that it is expected from her to adjust to the situation that presents itself and learns the basics of the culture that is dominant in the fligt and the culture of the destination of the flight (C. Versteeg, personal communication, May 9, 2021).
The questions that were asked in the interview were asked in order to establish an understanding of the work methods and adjustments that are being made by this particular Airline once they have a destination to a foreign culture, and / or when dealing with passengers from different cultures.

A group of four students, two from Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences and Kozminski University in Warsaw Poland conducted an interview with a female Palestinian English teacher at an international school in Brazil. The interview was investigating the impact of culture in Brazil within the educational setting. The teacher is Palestinian, however lives in Brazil – a country with a high level of Power Distance and a low level of Individualism.

A French female worker started her career with an international sports company when she was 22 years old and a trainee. After 23 years of hard work with the same company, she is now an industry director specializing in the area of gloves.

Transnational companies have a responsibility to adapt their corporate culture as well as their services to countries they operate within. To function worldwide a strategic approach has to be taken to expand the geographical presence of the business while maintaining the trust of the clients and providing high quality services. In some cases, having offices in various markets is necessary because it provides more trust from potential customers towards the company.

Four international students are interviewing the father of one of the students, who is the CEO of the Central and Eastern European division of one of the biggest international accounting companies in the world, in order to gain insight on potential corporate cultural issues for a project. Two of the students study in Poland and the other two in The Netherlands. The CEO comes from Poland – a country with a very high level of uncertainty avoidance and a large power distance.
